01. Introduction

Statistics can be defined as the science of collecting, organizing, analyzing and interpreting 1 data and when applied to biological problems, it is known as biostatistics. The role of biostatistics is vital in every stage from research conception to the final analysis. A minimum knowledge of biostatistics is essential to be a successful researcher. This chapter examines basic biostatistical principles and explores their application with relevant examples.
